New walking network connects the West Flemish Zwinstreek

On 24 November 2026, the West Flemish Zwinstreek Walking Network will be officially opened. The new network offers 257 kilometres of walking routes through the cross-border landscape of the Zwinstreek.
The West Flemish Zwin region is set to gain an extensive walking network. With 139 walking junctions and 257 kilometres of walking routes, visitors can discover the region’s diversity at their own pace. The network takes walkers past characteristic landscapes, nature reserves, polders and historic sites.
A key aspect is the connection to existing walking networks in East Flanders and Zeeland. This links walking areas across provincial and national borders, creating new opportunities to experience the cross-border Zwinstreek on foot.
The development of this walking network represents a further investment in accessible and sustainable recreational facilities. It also lays the foundations for the continued development of the Zwinstreek as a walking destination.
The official opening of the West Flemish Zwinstreek Walking Network will take place on 24 November 2026.
