Zuid-Nederland en Vlaanderen zijn demografisch vergelijkbare gebieden. Beide zijn vergrijzende gebieden met relatief veel ouderen die steeds langer leven, minder bewegen en hierbij overgewicht en in toenemende mate gewrichtsslijtage ontwikkelen.

Voortgang van de Athena trial
De ATHENA-studie naar het gepersonaliseerde 3D-geprinte heupimplantaat voor patiënten met heupdysplasie verloopt volgens planning. Inmiddels zijn de eerste twee patiënten succesvol geopereerd en zijn de laatste drie operaties van de eerste behandelreeks ingepland.
De studie bouwt voort op de wereldwijde primeur die begin dit jaar werd gerealiseerd met de eerste implantatie van een patiëntspecifiek 3D-geprint heupimplantaat. In een recent interview van Interreg Vlaanderen-Nederland delen Replasia en het UMC Utrecht meer over de ontwikkeling van het implantaat, de samenwerking binnen het PRosPERoS-II-project en de eerste ervaringen met deze first-in-man klinische studie: Wereldprimeur uit de grensregio: Gepersonaliseerd 3D-geprint heupimplantaat bereikt patiënt.

First in man clinical trial initiated for the hip preservasion 3D-Shelf Implant by Replasia
We are extremely proud to announce the official launch of the first-in-human clinical study!This study marks a major milestone in Replasia's mission to improve care for young adults with hip dysplasia—a condition that can severely impact mobility and quality of life. In this study, a custom-made, 3D-printed implant, designed to offer a personalized, joint-preserving solution tailored to each patient’s unique anatomy and condition is evaluated. Placed outside the joint capsule, the implant helps stabilize the joint and promotes more even load distribution.
